Lace, sequins, metallic, patterns, jewels... oh my.  It's all the rage right now and I love it all!  But I do limit how many trends I weave into each of my outfits.  This one I played with jewels, around my neck and on my pockets for day and then added a lace skirt for night.  My day to night outfit:

Click to Vote:

Give this little logo a click to vote for Chasing Davies - (all it takes is a click, no signing up, entering your data, nothing...just click below) - you can do this once a day to count (also find it on the sidebar of my blog):

And finally, sweet Christina Lucas gave me an award!  It's been awhile since I've gotten an award, so I gladly accept and pay it forward.  So first, my acceptance of the Stylish Blogger Award:

Acceptance Rules:

Thank the blogger who awarded you (see above).

Share seven things about yourself :

 1. I did my first triathlon in August, and plan to do my second one once tri-season resumes (for the Midwest) in April!

2. Confession - I'd rather email, than talk on the phone.... and I think that's sad. Technology is causing us to become so distant, but it's also a huge time saver!

3. I'm a little nervous about flying, but love to travel!  My last major trip was to St. Maarten with 3 of my best friends.  It was amazing, and we thankfully avoided all hurricanes.

4. I have REALLY good and accurate intuition about people. I've only been wrong once, and she's one of my best friends, but besides that slip up, I've been right on about people.

5. My ideal weekend night is spent with close friends and fam, in comfy pants, warm on the couch with wine and good conversation...

6. My 2 least favorite holidays....New Years Eve and Valentine's Day.  Both a giant let downs because they are way over hyped.  The hubs and I do random things for Valentine's Day... like go bowling (where we're usually surrounded by high school kids) or watch concerts on TV, like on Palladia (the last one we watched was Jimmy Buffet and Zac Brown Band, and we made home made margaritas to pretend we were somewhere warm).

7. I bite my nails. Horrible habit.  I've done it as long as I can remember.  My great-grandmother tried to get my to stop by telling me a scary story involving a big ball of nail slivers in a little girls stomach... My mom tried to get my to stop by painting my nails with the stuff that tastes bad... My husband tries to get my to stop by giving me dirty looks everything he finds my fingers near my mouth... and I just can't stop! Any tips?

Pass the award on to 15 bloggers you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic:

 Veronika's Blushing
Love, Lipstick and Pearls
Bichonluvr's Closet
Economy of Style

And finally, let the selected 15 bloggers know you've chosen them for this award! And continue to pay it forward.  Happy Holidays!

Staying Cozy and Chic in Sweater Pants

If you follow me on twitter you may have read about my debate on purchasing what I thought were just "fancy sweat pants", you maybe saw my dressing room try on of what is actually a sweater for your legs, and you may have seen my new J.Crew purchase of sweater pants.

Sweater pants.  Let that sink in. Um, they are the most cozy comfy sweet pants I have, and I think pretty cute (and funny).

I defiantly got a few double takes.  Here are the sweater pants in the dressing room:

And how I fashioned up these little comfy pants and wore to work and into the evening for a dinner night out:

More outfit details... Wearing new Ann Taylor Loft tiered tunic tank and a sparkly belt worn as a scarf (got via super sale); from Kohl's last season - Simply Vera jacket:

So these sweater pants... soooo very comfy and draped nicely.  I love the wide waist band and draw string closure. I was unsure about the tapped ankles, but just make the overall look of the pant fit very chic.  I mean, we wear sweaters on the top of our body...why not the on the bottom?  I love them.

{Extra: Get a similar pair of pants here. Bootie wedges from Aldo - reviewed here.}
Would you wear sweaters on your lower body?

A GIVEAWAY to bid you HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The start of the holiday season is upon us (has been upon us, I guess), but officially kicking it off here at Chasing Davies with a GIVEAWAY.  I love doing giveaways for you fabulous readers.  You make me happy and I hope this will make some of you happy.

This giveaway is through me (not affiliated with any sponsor) - and it's a brand new dress from Shabby Apple.  This striped (b/c I love stripes) dress can take you through any season...

Navy and White Striped Jersey Dress

First, more details about this dress:

Dress Description from Shabby Apple: Stripes are always fun, dynamic and eye-catching. With this navy and white jersey blend dress, stripes make their way back on the scene in a new and unexpected form. With vertical stripes on the bodice, the dress elongates the torso, while horizontal stripes descending from a drop waist give the dress almost an optical illusion feel. This dress is both classic and trendy all at once.

Size: Large (read about Shabby Apple fit guide here) - This dress falls below the knee, so a bit longer and fitted through the torso.  Not your size? Win it to gift it!

Now, the nitty gritty on how to win this dress?

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Mixing of Prints

You all have to know by now how much I love stripes and trying to find new ways to wear them/mix them - well, Economy of Style blogger/fashionista mixed her stripes with hounds-tooth!  I absolutely love this look:

Her outfit deets:
Tee—Gap
Skirt—The Limited
Sash—Gap
Jacket—INC via Macy's
Shoes—Adrienne Vittadini via Marshall

Outfit of the Day: Layering Up with Target

Lately I've been limiting my layering to just two.  That's not too hard, so I thought I'd aim for a third and then some...and all with Target, of course.  Here is my outfit, layer by layer:

Jacket (similar), hoodie, silky tank (different color), scarf and flats (similar) from Target;
Jeans from Gap, hat from H&M

True story on the jacket - I found it on the sale rack and got an additional 20% off, so it was super cheap.  Obviously being from Target and less than $20, it's purely pleather.  Who doesn't love some pleather?  You don't have to worry about rain or snow ruining it, getting it scratched up, etc...

Well, the hubs wasn't amused by my new jacket and score of a deal.  Possibly because the last thing I need is a new jacket?  Or in his words, "how much plastic ware do you need?" Ahhh, well I don't know that answer to that, yet. :)

Outfit of the Day: Untucked Prep

Kept my button up untucked today, and instead of tucking it into my skirt and fussing with it to keep it in and flat, I just let it hang out.  I opted to belt it around the waist instead.

Does anyone else struggle with keeping their shirts tucked in, laying flat and tight...without having to wear a shirt onsie.  I have one idea that I need to test out before wasting your time...stay tuned.

Moving on, here's the untucked shirt outfit:

And by the way, I'm LOVING these boots I got/posted about awhile ago (here).
They are from Kohl's - Elle Riva's tall boots with a ruffle up the side (not avail online).
Wool skirt - J.Crew, Button down top - Forever 21, Tights - Target, Belt - Old Navy

Dress For Less: Target Always Comes Through

Can Target get any better?  They constantly provide lower cost options, nice quality threads and similar options as our favorite, trend setting stores.  Oh Tar-jay...

Target (Button Cardigan Sweater $25) vs. J.Crew (Marled Mélange Cardigan $98)

Loft (Striped Cardigan $69.50) vs. Target (Boyfriend Cardigan $20)

Shoe of the Day: Printed Lovelies

Aren't these heels just absolutely lovely?  They'd make a festive addition to any holiday dress this time of year... and they won't hurt your wallet one bit!

Lafayette Pleated Pump - $45

Alexa Exotic Peep-Toe Pump - $45

And better yet ... It's BOGO - so buy one pair of shoes and get any other pair 1/2 off now through 11/24.

Outfit of the Day: Yellow Tights

I said I love experimenting with different colored and bright tights for Fall... I put on my bright yellow legs for this outfit.

Also experimented with layering the J.Crew Lorelei Strapless dress over the J.Crew Stripe Tee.

Yellow tights from Target last year and Boots from Banana Republic last year, as well.

What is the craziest tight color you will try out?

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Spice Muffins: 5 Minutes to Yum!

Seriously, this takes no time at all.  Thanks to my friend Mandy for bringing these muffins to my attention...Quick recipe to get these not-too-bad-for-you treats into the oven and in your mouth, fast!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Spice Muffins

What you need:
Box of Spice Cake Mix
Can of Pumpkin (not pie filling, plain, natural pumpkin)
Chocolate Chips
Optional: Vanilla Greek yogurt, or natural apple sauce

What you are making:

So here's what you do:
Through everything in bowl and mix well!

The optional vanilla yogurt or apple sauce just add even more moisture (the pumpkin will do that too), I've made these both ways and there is really not much of a difference. And remember, no need for butter, oil or eggs as the cake box calls, you are replacing all that with pumpkin...MUCH HEALTHIER, and YUM!

Spray down muffin tins with Pam and stick them in the oven for 18-22 minutes (until a knife comes out the center of a muffin clean).

I'm really enjoying pumpkin right now (if you can't tell from this bunt cake and this cheese cake).
Enjoy pumpkin season (which I think is October thru December)!

Arm Candy of Leather and Glitz

All that glitz and grommets and leather...  I've never been a big bracelet-wearer because they usually get in my way and end up annoying me, but I LOVE the accessory, and these fun wristlets have me reconsidering:

I especially love the wrapped leather stud bracelet:

And these beauties would be perfect for the holiday glamour:

See all J.Crew bracelets here.
