Dear J.Crew Fall 2011...

You're killing me!  You are full of cropped pants, beautiful jackets, rich layers, knee length dresses & skirts and amazing color combos.  But see, it's still only July and where I live, it's 100+ degrees out with no end in sight!  But I'm dying to recreate some of your looks (let alone get a few pieces) and just can't wait.

So I summerized this yellow mellow outfit and now all I need are a few good men in top hats.

I also tamed my hair with some braids and pinned them in the back.  Had to keep the frizz under control somehow, but feel I got the same messy - didn't try to hard look as Miss. J.Crew Fall model.  Anyways, J.Crew, I hope I did you proud.

Blue is for...

If you "like" me on Facebook, you got a sneak peek of today's outfit that I actually wore yesterday.  My ultrasound was at the end of the day on Monday, so Tuesday I told my co-workers I'd wear pink for girl or blue for boy the next day to work to announce the what the gender is for baby.  Well....

I wore blue for baby boy.  We saw our little boy so clearly on Monday.  He was moving all over the place (thanks to the 1/2 can of soda and some candy I had), doing the funniest things... so that's what I've been feeling!  My favorite picture is this one of little boy's profile, tush in the air and feet over his head.

I can just stare at this for hours.  After he got all his parts measured and identified, we made our way to the crotch region.  First his legs were closed, but with a little jiggle of my belly he spread 'em wide to show us his stuff. Hubs and I saw it right away and knew we had ourselves a boy.  We just giggled and laughed (poor baby, we're analyzing his stuff), but mainly just glowed in the happiness that so far all is healthy and he's developing normal.

We continue to be so thankful for coming this far and I pray for continued health for this little fellow.  He's already stolen my heart.

Shoe of the Day: My New Pet

A couple weeks ago I welcomed my second pair of leopard shoes into my life.  And I couldn't be happier.  Meet my new platform sandals.

I paired my leopard with a maxi skirt turned into more of a midi.  Since the waist band hits right across my growing baby bump, I pulled it up - like all the way up to sit right under my boobs. Thus showing off more of my new shoes anyways!

I love Franco Sarto heels.  They never fail to be comfortable from morning to night.  I found the best price for these Franco Sarto heels from Piperlime for $40.

The stripe maxi skirt (see worn at a normal length here or as a dress here) is from Macy's, worn with a hot pink J.Crew blouse and belted by Target.

Polka Dots & Elastic

Two things I cannot get enough of right now.

This polka dot skirt is a way oldie (like maybe 6+ years?) from Target.  I'm so glad I've hung on to it all this time.  I'm loving polka dots almost more than I am loving stripes (I said almost...) right now.

And it has an elastic waist band.  Um.  This is key when my body is changing and my belly is sticking out more and more each day.  I hope the little one growing instead appreciates my looser clothing choices.

Minty Pops

My nails match my necklace.  This minty-turquoise color is one of my very favorite colors after all.  I usually always go for a pink or red color on my nails, and this time I ventured out of my box for something more interesting!

Now I can't stop looking at my nails! I love it.  The color is Mermaid Tears by OPI. I recommend it for sure. Or doing anything that might not be your usual.  Puts an extra pep in my step... It's the small things in life I guess!

Yard Games

I celebrated the 4th of July with Friends on July 3rd and then with Family on the actual 4th.  Two days of holiday fun was amazing.  And I'm extra thankful to have another day off work today to recover from all the fun!

This is what I wore yesterday - for the real 4th of July.

At our family cookout, we had some extra fun with yard games.  But it wasn't just any kind of yard games.  It was like Yard Game Olympic style.

We paired up and moved through an obstacle coarse of games.  Set up in the backyard, we had 5 games set up.  Before we could move from each game, we had to get a certain amount of points different for each.

- Washers: had to each get 3 points
- Hoola Hoop Toss: had to each throw a hoola hoop around about a 6 foot tall spike (can be a anything tall) 2 times
- Ping Pong Ball Toss: had to each toss 3 ping pong balls into a bucket
- Tennis: had to consecutively hit the tennis ball back and forth 10 times (set closer together than a tennis court, this was the hardest one for me)
- Water Balloon Toss: had to each catch 2 water balloons without the balloon bursting

Each twosome started two minutes apart.  You were out if you got bumped by the team behind you (because you can't move on to the next game until you get your points for each game) and the fastest overall time won.  This particular course only took 3-5 minutes, so we played numerous times.  It was fun!

Independence Day

Happy 4th of July!  I hope you all have off work and get to enjoy this Monday doing something fun (and safe). I will be frolicking around in this skirt I just wore not too long ago here.  But let's face it - it's blue, light and comfy = perfect for a hot summer day celebrating our freedom!

Paired with my hot pink hex bracelet and tied up white tee, it's even a little 80s.

Minnesota Woods

As I mentioned yesterday, I recently got back from a terrific vacation with some of my favorite people.  One of my best friends lives in Minnesota and planned a northern (or mid) Minnesota Lake trip on Lake Sullivan (near Mille Lacs Lake).  The weather was 70s during the day, sunny and beautiful.  It was the perfect getaway.  And an amazing reunion with a couple best friends (we all live in different places).  Hubs also got to go, so it was nice quality time with him, too!

Fashionably, it was fun to wear some layers and Fall like clothing.  I got this drappy vest from J.Crew recently and thought it fit in perfectly with the Minnesota woods.

Fashion Obsession

Stripes, stripes and more stripes.  I think to myself, I finally have enough stripes.  And then something new comes out and I HAVE to have it.  Like the Featherknit stripe boatneck tee from J.Crew. Then somehow it ends up in my closet and I'm wearing it the next day... I have no idea how it happened!

I was on the search for a neon over-sized clutch, and while I love the American Apparel ones, I don't love the $50 price tag.  Then Erin tweeted to me that she could make me one and a few days later, I have me a pop of neon yellow with a hot pink zipper & full lining. Love it.

Can you guess where this skirt is from?

This might be my new favorite skirt.  Bright blue, light silk, flowy and A-line.  But I got it somewhere I never thought I would shop.  I got this skirt from Talbots.  I've noticed, mainly from Gigi, over the last year or so that they've really revamped their designs.  They have some really great colors and clothes!

That's Miss Sailor to you!

Fun bun, sailor-esque and little lady bug earrings.  Who can go wrong with all that?

 And if you ever wanted to know what my ear looked like up close and personal... but really this photo just relates back to my creepy crawler post and a question I had - How do you wear bug jewelry?  Well it's definitely a subtle and fun way to add a little funkiness to any outfit.
