I got this top and wore it this past Monday.

Wear Now, Wear Later: Summery Tops & BR Sale
Don't put all your summer clothes away just yet. Your favorite pieces from this summer's past can still be transitioned into cooler temps with layering.
You can dramatically change the look of a summer top by layering it over or under another piece. Always have several long sleeve shirts or turtlenecks on hand in several different colors, but definately neutrals. You can throw your favorite summer top over a fitted shirt. Jackets and cardigans are east to add on top of a lesser-in-fabric top and on the really cold days, add both tactics!
I love the contrast between a more delicate summerish top with a sturdier winter piece. Add your silky or light-fabric tops to tweed or cord bottoms to achieve that contrast. Layer on a thick knitted cardigan or add tall leather boots and tights to a summer dress/skirt.
The best time to buy these summer pieces is now - the sales are fabulous, and now that you know you can get away with mixing them into your winter/fall wared rope, you can check them out. Now thru 10/4, take an ADDITIONAL 10% off already reduced 40% Sale Items at Banana Republic. Online Only, Code: BREXTRA10 at checkout.

Twist draped top
This light pink color would transition well into Fall with tweeds, browns and maroons.
Cowlneck wrap dress
Pile on a fitted black jacket - maybe a cropped or tuxedo type one for a fancy night out.
Don tights if super cold and spice up with a pop of color with bright pink shoes!
On another note, Chasing Davies was nominated for a "Love this Site Award" and would love your support! Simply click here and then the maroon "vote" button next to my site at the top of the page. If you are not already registered, it take less than one minute. Just assigning a password to your email and providing basic info.

House Progress?
Well, I guess there has been progress, but man there still feels like a LOT left to do. Hubs and I have been hard at work and this past weekend was BUSY, but fun. :)
After unloading the POD and getting everything somewhere in the house, Saturday my parents helped me paint the master bedroom Viking Blue. Still aiming to achieve that beautiful serene blue bedroom.

*quite obviously not the final "after", but the walls sure are pretty!
Then on Sunday, Hubs and I (well mainly Hubs, while I organized my closet...) ripped out carpet in the one room containing it - the extra room that will be our office.

Obviously we still have loads to do...wall paper, paint, unpack, organize, new couch, get appliances and TV console on Wednesday, plumbing make-over is still taking place, move master bedroom furniture into the room, stain and reface furniture, get the entire house trim, crown molding and floor boards painted white - interior doors and closet doors too. I'll just take it one thing at a time.
You can also follow my house before and afters, and many other people's on "What I Did With It"!

On the home front, everything is going well! We unloaded half the POD last night with the help of family. It's all a little overwhelming right now, but as I start to organize and put away our stuff piece by piece, it'll probably get a little better! :)

I know you can guess where the one on the right is from, and right now it's actually not expensive at all, as it's on sale! The one on the left, though, is still have the price.

The POD has Arrived...
So we did it! Signed our life away (about a few hundred times, so it felt). Hubs and I are officially proud owners of our very first house!
As I mentioned in the last post, it took about 6 months to get to this point. And in that time frame, our lease on the duplex that we were renting went up. For close to 2 months, we crashed with my parents. Now, it sounds way worse that it was. They are awesome, have a nice big house with plenty of room for Hubs, Chucky-Bear (fur baby) and I and we save loads of money by not paying rent/utilities. The only down part was that they live farther south than from where we work - so commuting was a little rough (but I'm being a baby about it).
In that time frame, we stored all our stuff in a POD, Portable Moving Container. The POD was dropped off at our rental, we stuffed it to the gill and then they picked it up to store for the next 2 months. Today it arrived in our new home driveway! They called me to let me know and even made sure it was ok where they were placing it. They have been nothing but easy to work with. If you ever need moving and/or storage help...I totally recommend POD. The prices are very competative, if not cheaper.
Just a little plug for a great moving experience (and those are hard to come by)!
Tonight, to help celebrate Hubs 29th Birthday, we'll be unloading the sucker.
