Low Fat Wednesday: Purple Sweet Potatoes
Has anyone seen the bright purple (on the inside) sweet potatoes in their local grocery stores?! I recently saw them at mine and couldn't wait to try them!
Dr. Oz names this sweet potato in his 5 Superfoods to Eat Now. He reports that this sweet potato, or Imo is rich in beta-carotene and boasting 150% more antioxidants than blueberries!
So what to do with it? I replaced regular sweet potatoes with these - the taste is very subtly different, and if anything, there is less taste in the purple sweet potato. I made my favorite dish - Sweet Potato Butter Bean Stew with these and it was still great!

Strapless Dress to the Office
I've had a ton of luck at Kohl's lately. My LC and Simply Vera Wang duds were only the second success trip. Before then, I got an Elle braided strapless dress in fuchsia pink and am loving it. To work, instead of layering on a cardigan (because I can't really wear a strapless dress to work)...I layered the dress over a stripped tee:
I thought this kind of gave it a punchy, unexpected look and was quite comfortable!
And because it's not quite warm enough to the leave the house with bare arms AND legs...
Striped Tee: Sarah Jessica Parker's line a few years ago (similar and one with fun sleeves)
Necklace: Forever21 (similar)
Wedges: Gap, handed down from a friend
Jacket: Banana Republic, borrowing from a friend

eShakti Dress Review
A few weeks ago, eShakti contact me about picking out something from their site to get and review! I was so excited! Of course all the items I had been eying the last time I was on that site were gone - but I quickly found a few other things I wanted. I decided on a springy-like dress in my current favorite color, turquoise.
Cotton satin rosette trim dress
So I took all my measurements, because after all, the best part about eShakti is their clothing is customizable! I also got to pick how I wanted the dress - sleeves? sleeve length (from sleeveless to long sleeve), deep scoop or as shown, and hem length (past my knees, at my knees or above). I made all my selections and told them my measurements, about a week later I got the dress! I thought it was a pretty quick turnaround for something customized for me.
And the results...
Pretty good...but either I've lost 10 lbs since measurements or didn't do a good enough job measuring myself... Its big around the waist, bust and shoulders:
gapes open under the armpits.
little baggy and loose.
I think next time I will do a better job measuring myself - but otherwise, I like the dress. It is fully lined, machine washable, tumble dry low and comfy. Since I made my order, there are a few other dresses that have popped up that are super cute. I love this one for summer:
Check out eShakti - but make sure to take really good measurements if going that route!

Favorite Blogger Outfits: Turquoise and Gray
Gray is a common theme in my own outfits (and home design) lately, whether mixed with patterns, YELLOW, light blue, etc - it's the go-with-everything, not-black-or-white color that I love so much... And LOVE how the color is paired with turquoise and the pop of yellow in Maria's outfit:
Maris is the popular blog author of Infinite Whimsy, and blog dedicated to outfit styling and especially to Athropology, her beloved store! She offers tons of reviews on Anthro pieces and shares her IRL styling. This is my fav outfit of the week - a really fun mix of spring and winter in the this transitional time.
Have a great week everyone!

Highend Beauties/Affordable Looks: Shoe(s) of the Day
Saw these beautiful shoes and thought, How can I get my grubby little fingers on these amazing shoes?!?!?!
By the way, now I'm singing "Kris Kross will make you Jump Jump" = Jump by Kris Kross, just because the shoes is called Crisscross. My mind wanders...
Check them out on this model...

But alas, my husband - er - I mean, bank will not allow me a pair of $695 heels. Some affordable looks:
The same great olive color and strappy look (sand studs), but this Victoria Secret find is less than $100.
And these strappy AND studdly heels come in several colors, include a brown-ish olive that resembles the high end pair a bit more - plus the amazing zip up heel (fun touch)! Um, and on sale for under $50!
Happy Friday Lovelies!
