Vegas 101

Last weekend I went to Vegas with 8 other girls.  It is the ultimate girls trip.  We danced so much my feet are still swollen!  I sang in the clubs and strained to still speak to my friends during the loud music that my voice is still raspy.  I chugged so much water to flush out alcohol and keep hangovers afar that I am still peeing every 2 minutes!  And it was great!  Just a few remaining aliments that are a sign of an amazing weekend.

Vegas 101:

1. No matter where you go or what you do in Vegas - it is your chance to break out that flirty dress , or too-fancy for home dress, or maybe a bit too-sexy dress.  It's Vegas.  You can do where whatever you want.

Body-hugging sequin dress:

Even if not 100% comfy in a super tight or short dress - these little babies help keep your privates private and feeling a bit more secure!

Depending on the color of your dress...Spanx

2. Pack those high-heels.  Who cares if your feet will be swollen or hurt - it's Vegas and heels are everything.  They look amazing and will make you feel great! ;)

Platform bright embellished heels:

Our Vegas heels one night:
I wore these.
Worried about blisters?  These things saved my soles in Vegas:

Blister bandages are crushing and smooth! Wore them all Saturday night after I ended up with a blister on the ball of my foot from Friday night... it worked!

3. Smoldering eyes.  Now's the time to wear the sexy smokey-eye:

4. Pick a great place to stay!  Recommendation? Middle of the strip (easier to get any direction, and/or cheaper taxis)!  This week we stayed at the Bellagio in a sweeeeeeet suite and connecting room - had 4 bathrooms!  Going in on it with enough people, it was really affordable.  Just make sure to only reveal a few people staying upon reservations (only say there are the # of people that are beds - Vegas likes to charge $30 extra per person).  See strip map here.

5. Make sure the people you go with that are ready for a good time - whatever it is you do; whatever reason you go.  For a girls trip?  Be ready to dance! :)

Any Vegas tips for a great weekend?

Get up and shake the glitter of your clothes now

...that's what you get for waking up in Vegas!

Don't mind me - but I'm in Vegas this weekend! Yay!!! :)

Kohl's Fitting Room Reviews - Spring 2010

Vera and LC had me running to Kohl's to check out some of the new stuff I'd seen online.  I wasn't disappointed!  Obviously you all know I picked up some new heels, and returned some, but also had a really hard time narrowing down my clothing purchases...

Simply Vera by Vera Wang:

Gathered Dress

IRL:
SO comfy, love the color.

Not available online.
I love all the colors, but wasn't in love with the fit.

LC by Lauren Conrad:

Ruffle Dress

IRL:
I originally thought this dress would be way too short.  Don't get me wrong, it's still short, but will be ok with tights, leggings or in Vegas.  I'm taking this to Vegas (THIS WEEKEND, by the way.)

LC's Sequins....
Sequin Cardi

Sequin Skirt

IRL:
Sequin suit! haha.
The skirt was not a good fit, at all - elastic band, odd length, pooched a bit around the lower tummy.

Cardi could be fun.  I didn't need it because the fit - tappers at the bottom.  I think it would have been a better fit it it was lose at the bottom hem and so it laid flat.

Then I found some other stuff, Elle:

Ruffled Racerback Tank

IRL:
Cute... didn't need.

Apt. 9:

Polka-Dot Empire Dress

IRL:
 Comfy.

Then I wandered over to the Junior's section.  Candies:
 Studded Bandage Skirt

IRL:
I liked this.  I think it'll be even cuter in the summer, with a tan. :)

There ya go.  Lots of good stuff going on at Kohls.

Shoe of the Day - Review of Black Platform Heels

A few weeks ago, I got Simply Vera heels from Kohls to satisfy my lust for J.Crew's Platform Pumps (see here).  Sadly, they didn't satisfy, not even close.  And in-real-life, I just didn't like them on my foot.

Simply Vera Vera Wang Margarit Platform Heels

In real life...

The fabric was soft, but fuzzy looking - like felt.
Too-strappy looking on my foot.
Because of the platform, I think the heel needed to be higher.  My foot was an awkward height in the shoe (if that makes sense...).

I think I would could have liked if they were real suede or a better faux-suede, less straps - narrowed down to 2 thicker straps and a higher heel with the platform.  That's just my opinion. I returned these.

Decorating the New White Bookcase

Now that our home is officially put back together after the painting (book shelves and railings were the last to be put back) and gleaming white - time to put it back together again (or in the first place)...stuff like, hanging pictures, decorating the mantle and the bookshelf, etc.

Starting with the new white bookshelf, I put it back together again.  First, lets take a look back on the befores:

Back when we first moved in...

With our new couch, and stuff on the shelf...

And NOW!

The white shelf is the perfect backdrop to photos, books and memorabilia.

I will break it down for you:
Top 2 Shelves
Top Shelf Call Outs: special display of the fabulous book - The Gospel According to Coco Chanel, Twilight series (my sister has my 4th!!) and Stotan (one of my fav books)
Second Shelf Down Call Outs: Filled a vase with wine corks, Left candle from Anthro (my favorite scent, Valcano) and another candle.

Bottom 3 Shelves
Top Shelf: Ode to our alma-mater, signed by Danny Manning (awesome gift to us), Original edition "I Married Adventure" book (love the brown zebra hardback)
Middle Shelf: Kate Spade Mirrored Picture Frame (need to insert wedding photo), Turquoise vase from Target and Wedding Photo book
Bottom Shelf: Personal photos and and Photo book signed by friends.  Front photo is of my two boys (Husband and Dog) taken by me in college for photo class - I love it.

What's on your bookshelf??  Anything abnormal or interesting you may not normal find on a bookshelf?
